This is a, not-so-recent, picture of my niece, Evelyn (I think that picture was taken about 3 years ago). She's 8 years old now. Can you please stop to say prayer for her? She's going through chemo - for the second time. She was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor about 2 years ago and, though they thought it was gone, it came back again. She's such a strong little girl; it humbles me. I don't know if I could be as positive as she is if I were in her place. They recently had to take her to the ER because she was throwing up for 4 days straight. She's been in the hospital for a few days now and was told she had some type of viral infection - this is because her immune system is so weak. Her sister and brother are also sick. Please pray for them too!
Her mom told us one time that she feels God's definitely watching over and caring for Evelyn. There are many times the doctors are amazed at how much pain she can endure and would tell them that they've seen older guys cry during the same procedures Evelyn goes through! Praise God! His love and care is definitely evident.
Evelyn once asked her mom why this was happening to her and not her sister or brother. The only true response any one of us can give is that God has a plan. Evelyn's response? Contentment. She could've said it was unfair, or that she hated her life. But, instead, she continues her journey with joy. I feel so blessed to have such nieces. I'm praying that God will use her experience as a testimony to others out there. She's probably lost all of her hair by now. I think it'd be a good idea to buy her some wigs - she likes long hair. =)
There are a lot of questions that are left unanswered. But, we're human; we're imperfect. Why do we feel that we have to know everything? Even if we tried, there's no way we would have answers to every question. I guess it's easier said then done for most, but all I know is, everything here on earth is temporary. Once we die, we can't bring any of this world - including our wants and needs - with us.
Will you put your hope and trust in God, an all-powerful and infinite being?
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJV) -
"... but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not see: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
